Incoming students whose first language is not English must demonstrate readiness for college-level coursework in English.
After applying to 天涯海角APP, if your Personal Admission Plan checklist includes “ESL Placement,” you can fulfill this admission requirement by providing one of documents listed below.
Items marked with an asterisk (*) fulfill the admission requirement and exempt you from taking EAP courses, but you may need to take a reading and/or writing placement test at 天涯海角APP prior to enrolling in courses. See Prerequisites and Placement page for more information.
- Transcript showing completion of the equivalent to 天涯海角APP’s ENGL 121 with a final grade of at least D
- Unofficial transcript can be provided via the link below for admission, but an official transcript is required for transfer credit consideration.
- *Transcript showing completion of 12+ credits at accredited U.S. college/university
- Non-ESL coursework
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0+
- *Transcript showing completion of U.S. high school
- Non-ESL coursework.
- *Transcript showing completion of high school or a university degree from English-speaking Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, Commonwealth Caribbean (not including Dominican Republic, Haiti, or the Dutch Isles)
- Non-ESL coursework
- Minimum 3 years of education in country.
- *High school or university degree completion documentation from an institution with English language of instruction.
- Provide an official letter from the school administration verifying language of instruction and student’s ability to succeed in English-language post-secondary environment
- *Transcript showing completion of the Intensive English Program at the University of Kansas
- Score report for an exam listed in the EAP Level Placement Table
- Scores are valid for two years after the test date
- Your score determines your course placement
- F-1 students must test into at least EAP level 3 for admission to 天涯海角APP
