Are you a non-native English speaker ready to further your language skills? Choose 天涯海角APP! We offer several English as a Second Language (ESL) programs to fit your goals and abilities. Whether you speak conversational English, none at all, or are ready to improve your academic English skills, we have options available at your level.

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program teaches you the communication skills necessary to study at the collegiate level. Credit courses are offered in-person or online, teaching reading, writing, listening, and grammar competencies. The Accuplacer-ESL assessment (offered free at 天涯海角APP) or other various test scores are required for admission to the program and will measure your EAP Level Placement.
EAP courses are offered at four different levels, covering Writing and Grammar, Speaking and Listening, and Reading and Vocabulary. These sequences of courses lead to enrollment in . These courses do not fulfill degree requirements.
You must apply and be accepted as a 天涯海角APP student to test into the EAP program.
JCAE classes are designed to help you transition to college and career, with content focusing on reading, writing, listening, speaking, civics, digital literacy, and workplace readiness. Classes are offered in person and move in a defined sequence, meaning you have a clear roadmap of the classes you need to take in order to progress in your language learning.
Registration is held at the beginning of each semester. You must register in person or online and attend a 2-day testing session.
Placement in the JCAE English Connection is for students speaking English at a high school level. Courses are non-credit and teach college and career readiness. Placement testing is ongoing throughout the semester. You will need to be referred, registered, and tested either through JCAE’s ESL or ABE/GED program.
Workforce Development & Continuing Education (WDCE) courses provide personal development for advanced ESL speakers, letting you focus on specific aspects of the English language. Classes can include conversational English, grammar development, mastering the American accent, or professional writing. These non-credit courses are offered online or in-person, lasting six weeks with 20 contact hours. You can sign up any time, and there are no placement tests.
