FAQs for IISS Students Interested in the 天涯海角APP AAS Nursing Program

Planning to study nursing in the US? Here are some commonly asked questions and answers.

It depends; this is a selective admission program. You must follow the application cycle and fulfill prerequisites to gain full admission to the program.

天涯海角APP academic counselors are prepared to support your academic journey. They work closely with the academic departments, and they will help you to create an academic plan for you to achieve your academic goal.

International credits must be evaluated for consideration at 天涯海角APP. This is a cost to you, and many of the credits come as equivalents to electives hours. That means the credits will not fulfill the required prerequisites for the program most of the time. Prerequisites for the program must be taken from an accredited US institution, not necessarily from 天涯海角APP only.

Your experience and work history may help you in an academic setting, but you need to obtain a US credential. There most likely is no direct transfer from an overseas country to the US. 

Individuals without Social Security numbers will not be eligible to sit for required licensing exams. You could take all the classes but would be unable to get the credential that is required to work in this field.

Yes, you can transfer your credits to 天涯海角APP. Please be advised that the 天涯海角APP Associate of Applied Science in Nursing is a selective admission program; you need to apply and go through the selection process to be accepted.

This is a selective admission program. Initial I-20s for this program are not issued. Please work with the IISS office (iiss@jccc.edu) to understand the type of I-20 you’re eligible for.

F-1 students that join the nursing program start with an I-20 for the Liberal Arts major until they have been admitted into the nursing program.

F-1 students work on their language and any necessary prerequisites with a Liberal Arts I-20 until they’re eligible to apply to this program.
